The brief
We already looked after this seeded products supplier's website. Next they wanted their trade customers to order online. Standard e-commerce assumes one price per product. Here, price changed with the type of customer and the quantity, with setup and delivery fees on top.
Customers also needed to design the product themselves, and the price had to follow every choice they made.
What we built
A pricing engine built from scratch, with the Zakeke designer wired into it.
We wrote pricing logic that calculates by customer type and quantity, then adds setup and delivery fees. Pricing tables change per customer type, so each buyer only sees what applies to them.
We connected the Zakeke product designer to that pricing, so the price stays accurate as the customer personalises the product. No plugin does this out of the box, so we built it.
The key moves
- Quantity and customer-type pricing. The core engine, beyond what plugins allow.
- Setup and delivery fees. Real costs reflected at checkout.
- Per-segment pricing tables. Each buyer sees their own numbers.
- Zakeke tied to pricing. Personalisation that keeps the price honest.
